Have you planned on a big church wedding since you were a little girl and now the day has arrived to choose the details? You're trying on lace white gowns with trains fit for a princess. You're fingering stationery for embossed invitations and you're picking out wedding bands.
Yet, you still need a stunning and elegant reception venue for your traditional wedding.
Located in the heart of Doylestown, Pa. at Pine and Ashland streets sits a concrete castle. You may know it as Mercer Castle Museum. It's a local landmark celebrating 100 years in 2016.
This remarkable building was built by native son Henry Mercer.
He was a gentleman as much at home in the mannered world of Henry James as he was in devising ways to pour concrete to and creating architectural wonders.
World traveler, amateur archeologist and a man of insatiable curiosity, he built this castle to preserve the artifacts he collected.
Today it's a beautiful place to hold a memorable wedding reception. Maybe even yours.
Mercer Castle offers different choices for your wedding reception.
Up to 100 guests can enjoy the unique surroundings of the Central Court (left) filled with Mr. Mercer's artifacts of a time gone by.
The elegant Georgian Elkins Gallery (below) provides a genteel backdrop for your intimate reception of up to 80 guests with dancing or up to 120 guests spilling into the adjacent Patio Tent.
Our receptions are usually 4 hours long leaving your guests an opportunity to meander the museum during the cocktail hour. Whether you choose a traditional receiving line, or a grand entrance into the cocktail hour for your first dance, you'll have ample time to greet your guests during the reception.
Memorable Affairs, Inc. handles the catering and wedding arrangements at Mercer Castle Museum. We provide all the linens, crystal, china and accessories needed for your traditional wedding yet, if you want to include your grandmother's silver candlesticks or have other special decorations you'd like to include, we'll be happy to arrange them for you.
Choosing a venue for your wedding reception is one of the most fun aspects of wedding planning.
Here at Mercer Museum Castle, Memorable Affairs includes a wedding planner to help you coordinate the big day.
As you speak to caterers at other venues, you'll want to find out the answers to more than just what type of hors d'oeuvres they'll provide. Questions like, "Who will be in charge of the staff on the day of the wedding?" "What additional services do you provide besides food?" "Can we bring our own alcohol?"
Find out the answers to these and other questions you'll want to ask when speaking with caterers.

Here's what one of our happy clients said about their wedding at Mercer.
I wanted to reach out to say we had a wonderful time last Saturday. Thank you for all your efforts - especially with the salmon substitution (which got SO MANY compliments) and the chair/linen changes (which just looked stellar).
Can you also please pass along our thanks to the woman who was in charge on Saturday? I missed her name, but she did a great job managing everything. Set-up and take-down were a breeze.
